About Amy

Amy L Brooks has been the owner and CEO of RCM of Washington, Inc. since 1998. RCM stays busy by Revitalizing Community Membership through supports as a residential, day and employment service provider in Washington, DC. RCM supports over 180 people in a wide variety of services and family support and employs over 300 employees from in and around the District of Columbia. RCM has recently established a DSP Academy focused on training people with disabilities to work as Direct Support Professionals to meet the ever-demanding workforce crisis. Amy served for multiple years on the DC Association of People Supporting Employment First (APSE) Board, 20+ Years as the DC Board of Representatives for the American Network of Community Options and Resources (ANCOR), member of the ANCOR Global Council, and Co-Chair of the ANCOR Political Action Committee, and serves on the ANCOR Foundation Board. Additionally, 20+ years on the Board of the DC Coalition of Disability Service Providers. She serves on the Board of Shared Horizons Special Needs Trust and sits on several advisory committees for the DC Department on Disability Services (DDS).

Amy believes strongly that each person has value and gifts to contribute to their community and has worked over the years ensuring that people receiving support are active participants in their community and determining the direction of their lives. She is a tireless advocate for disability rights and works to build systems and support models that embrace self-determination and opportunities for people to thrive in the life they want to live. Over the years, she has developed a large network of resources and knowledge in the IDD field and within the community at large. She also brings the ability to create, promote and educate about the opportunity to build a more inclusive and diverse community that celebrates everything it has to offer!

Amy was born and raised in West Virginia where she currently lives part time. Outside of work she is a political junkie, eccentric spirit, crazy cat woman, and avid animal lover.
