Erica Smith Buchanan

About Erica
Erica Smith Buchanan is a visionary leader, advocate, and mentor dedicated to creating inclusive opportunities and empowering individuals with disabilities. As the President and CEO of Violet Vision International, she oversees a diverse range of services, including professional development, leadership training, business development, IT support, and branding services. Her work focuses on breaking barriers, advancing inclusion, and fostering innovation in disability services and beyond.
Erica’s commitment to advocacy is deeply personal. After losing her sister Michelle, who had an intellectual and developmental disability (I/DD), she channeled her grief into action, ensuring that others with disabilities receive the support, opportunities, and dignity they deserve. As the Executive Director of CADENCE of Acadiana, she leads efforts to provide essential services to individuals with I/DD, seniors, and those recovering from traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries, ensuring they can live full and independent lives within their communities.
Erica is a dynamic force in national disability advocacy, engaging with legislators, policymakers, and community leaders to champion inclusive policies and systemic change. When not advocating or mentoring, Erica travels the world, attends sporting events, and finds joy in road trips and quality time with loved ones. She lives by the mantra: “I want to live a life that matters, that betters people, places, and systems, radiating love and joy through every encounter.”
