About Patricia

Patricia A. Browne currently serves as the President and CEO of the National Children’s Center (also known as NCC) in Washington, DC. She is a results-oriented executive with over twenty years of experience in sales, leadership development and change management. She has created innovative customer solutions through business development and marketing combined with leadership and strategic planning for Fortune 500 corporations such as Allstate Insurance Company and MetLife Insurance Company.

As the leader of NCC, one of the region’s largest care providers for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, Patricia’s experience in the private sector enables her to utilize skills in sales, organizational development and change management. Her previous work experiences within the insurance and financial services industries contributes to her knowledge of transitioning NCC to the next level. Because of her compassion and commitment to community engagement, she has a deep understanding of NCC’s core mission to provide a lifetime of opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Having most recently served as the organization’s chief operating officer and a former board member, Patricia is not only familiar with the cause, but also is deeply rooted in the mission of the organization. Patricia has played an integral role in developing NCC’s strategic plan and has led the organization through a number of major successful transformation initiatives.

A noted authority on organizational development, Patricia is recognized for her expertise in leading an organization through change to deliver superior results by focusing on leadership development. Her consulting work has focused on fostering collaborative efforts among strategic business partners and building consensus across multiple functional levels. As the President and CEO of NCC, Patricia leads more than 400 employees to serve close to 500 individuals from the ages of one to seventy.

Patricia received her undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland, College Park and completed her Masters of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Organization Development along with a certificate in Leadership Development from the Johns Hopkins University.

Patricia is a National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) Board Governance Fellow. She also serves on the Consumer Advisory Council for the Georgetown University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities and the Legislative Committee of the DC Coalition of Providers. Patricia is also a member of the Chesapeake Bay Organization Development Network, and a former member of the Allstate Foundation Capital Region, the Executive Board for Junior Achievement of Central Maryland, and the National Association of African American Insurance Advisors, D.C. Chapter Boards.
